I WANT TO STOP IT BUT I LIKE IT, HELP ME QUIT SINNING

#coachtoyinsboomtip1
OWN UP 😯. Famz, I gat you. Been there, done that, so take it from me; you gotta ‘own’ your issues. Admit that you are caught up in a sinful lifestyle that you have no strength to resist.

Humbly tell God you are sorry for selling His prized child (that’s YOU) cheaply for a moment’s thrill. Tell Him that though you still enjoy doing that ‘thing’, you are ready for Him to ZAP IT OUT OF YOUR LIFE… And mean it when you say it😐!!!!

Then brace yourself – God will never ignore a genuine prayer of repentance. Meaning your turnaround is about to begin in 5…4…3…2…1…😉

COLD TURKEY. 😯 Eeek, nobody likes this part, but it is needed.

Famz, if you’ve prayed about your sinful habit, next step is to get practical and remove triggers outta your space. Yes! You have to cooperate with God (come on somebody!).

He is at work within you to transform your desires. So, get to work slowly but surely shutting down the triggers that usually trip you up. Make a list of your triggers today, tell a trusted friend to keep you accountable, and then prayerfully begin to go cold turkey💥.

FEAST. Tip 2 said go cold turkey. Tip 3 says FEAST! Yes!

Replace the triggers that you are shutting down (in tip 2) with a FEAST on God’s Word. Gulp it up like the delicacy for your soul and spirit that it is! King David loved God like ‘kilode’ (Nigerians will get that) but he still had struggles with sin. Guess what he said in Psalm 119:11 – “I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You.” 😯

Read the Word, study it, journal what you learn, chat to friends about it, read again… Get it deep into your core. FEAST on the opposite of that ‘thing’ you want to quit.😉

1) God says you can come to Him boldly and ask for help to press on, EVERY TIME you feel weak. He promises to always send the help you need to overcome in the moment.
2) Share your struggle with a trusted, mature Christian who is stronger in that area of their life than you are. They can pray along and keep you accountable.
