A Tip to maximise your Mid-Week Truth Turn Up …
Your Mid-Week Truth Turn Up is a 'meaty' devotional that can re-centre your heart on Jesus as you go along in your week. The devotional is slightly lengthier than a daily devotional and that is because I post them only once a week and they are meant to be your repeat meditation for the next 7 days till you receive the next Truth Turn Up.

My tip is therefore that as your week goes on, you visit and re-visit your Mid-Week Truth Turn up and meditate on the Bible Meditation passage, my write up as well as the Further Study at the bottom of the devotional. Take the whole week to meditate on it and get it into your spirit. Do not try to compress the whole devotional into one reading.

Enjoy (* wink *)

Listen! He speaks.

A TRUTH TURN UP (DEVOTIONAL)

Meditation Verse: Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

Funny thing happened to me the other day. I was taking my kids to their new school and I decided to get all dressed up and look cute. I brought out my green platforms that I love so much because they achieve what few shoes can achieve: they are cute and comfy.

As I pulled out my shoes, I heard God speak to my spirit:

“Toyin, you haven’t worn those in over a year. They are probably fragile. Don’t wear them today.”

Indeed I hadn’t worn these shoes in over a year because I was pregnant and very clumsy last year, so I stuck to wearing flat shoes and slippers.

“Ahh, but they are so cute, and they go with my outfit,” I responded within my spirit. And I went ahead and wore the shoes.

To cut a long story short, as I took the long walk from the car into the school and down the classroom hallways to drop off kids in their classes, my right shoe started shifting. Next thing I knew, the strap on one side slipped out completely and the sole become loose! A few more steps later, the whole strap and buckle got dislodged from the shoe!

Friends, this story about my shoe is a fun one, and yes it was embarrassing but thankfully, it did not have any material impact on my life. But how about if my heart was so distant from God that I could not hear Him at all? Imagine me missing God completely when He speaks to me about weightier matters to do with my life, family, ministry, community, my nation? How tragic that would be.

In our meditation verse, God told Jeremiah to tell His people that if they call to Him, He will answer and show them great and hidden things. Just think about it. How much have you missed in life, how many embarrassing stumbles have you taken, how many dangerous paths have you sauntered down, simply because you may not have always called to God? How many broken situations in your life, family, community, church, city, nation, have remained unsolved, simply because when God spoke to you and gave you divine solutions to those problems, you either did not hear or obey? So often we accuse God of sitting back and letting the world descend into chaos, yet God has spoken and said time and time again, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for Us?” (Isaiah 6:8) But how will we respond by saying “Here I am, send me”, if we can’t hear Him, or if when we do hear, we don’t obey?

I encourage you to decide today to keep your relationship with God on the front burner, every day, so that as you relate to Him (call on him) you will hear Him speak, and when He speaks, you will obey, and go forth to heal the world He loves so much. If you want to do this but you don’t know how, reach out to me on thenarrowgateway@gmail.com and I’ll happily provide some supporting material to you.

Let us pray

Lord Jesus, John 10:27 says My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. Could it be that the reason I do not hear You clearly is because I have not stayed committed to being Yours? Could it be that You have been speaking all along but I have tuned You out and I have therefore been missing out on the life you have saved me to lead? Please forgive me for this. Today, I make a choice to return to You, to be Yours. I want to hear You, and when I do, help me to obey every time. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I am Coach Toyin, fully convicted by my own words and very much still under construction in the hands of the Father.
